On top of the hill in the village Marchand you find a church with a colourful container next to it which MAMA Ilse received from the lottery. It has been turned into a small school for dozens of toddlers who can play there, learn, take naps and receive a healthy meal.
MAMA Ilse and her team have been able to also provide after school care for children, with the support of Kinderfonds MAMAS. The MAMAS of Bright Beginnings are trying to break the cycle of misery these children are exposed to: sometimes young children aged thirteen already have a drinking or drug dependency problem. It’s not surprising, when you consider that also a lot of parents in the region are addicted to these drugs. Bright Beginnings wants to offer children a safe place where they are encouraged to finish school, receive love and the care they often miss at home.
